With my kinds of game fowl there is no problem in natural rearing. Sometimes it’s necessary to let the hen sit over six weeks on the eggs. Especially when I await eggs from breeders of other countries. The arrival of these eggs is not always punctual. With a good hen I got more success then with the incubator. Good hens of mine hatched two series eggs in six weeks. I take the eggs after 18 days out of the nest and replace them with fresh ones. The older eggs hatched out by the incubator. The hen hatches still until the day of birth of a new generation. Prerequisite the hen is in absolute top physical condition.

By rearing without hen are some points helpful. The little chicks are stronger in health if there are some excrement pieces in their box. Heaters with bright/dark effect reduce aggression of the birds. The size of the rearing box should rise with the age. Most game fowl breeds can be raised up a flock (not my Brazilians and all crosses with them). Short before they reach adult age it’s time to separate them, especially the young stags.

Adult cocks without breeding ambition should be placed in pens. They need to have a comfortable size and brightness. The expenditure of keeping in pens is much higher than in the outrun. Fresh green and sand for the stomach should be given from time to time. The owner is in war with parasites all the time. Especially the red bird milbe is dangerous-they can increase explosive in the summertime. These bloodsuckers bring single birds even to death! It’s an advantage for the brood stock to have outrun and green. The whole breeding is much easier and the results are better. With outrun it’s important to prevent fights on the fence.
