Home Breeds Shamo

This breed I keep since 1998. I got my first breeding stock from Holland. After that long time of breeding I think my birds have a good character.

Shamos are more complicated to raise. They need more and longer warm-they got a cold sensitivity up to the 6 month. Then you can keep them in a flock up to the age of 12-14 month. Then they start to become adult, after that there is now way to let the cocks in the flock.

The shamo is famous for his upright stance and his fightingstyle. In the fight; good lines hold the head always high. This quality and the very upright stance is a main reason why many breeders Cross their birds with shamos. It is definitely an advantage in the pit.Shamo do Brazil is a breed that is the result of crossing Japanese shamo and the bankivoid Spanish game.

The Japanese shamo is a very big game fowl breed. They reach a height over 80cm and a weight far over 8lbs.Its an interesting fact that in Japan no one is breeding for show like it is in Europe. How ever, in Europe you can find very high quality birds from well-known breeders in Belgium, England and Germany .A special feature of my birds are the spurs of the hens.
